Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre Almost Ready
The Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre is set to open this spring! The centre, also known as QEPCCC, is a multi-purpose facility, and will be home to many different programs and groups.
The facility offers:
- Gyms and multipurpose rooms
- Youth Centre
- Woodworking studio
- Rehearsal Hall
- Digital Arts Studio
- Fine Arts studios
- Dance studio
- Cafe
- Older Adults Centre
- Pottery studio
- Fine Arts studio
- Black Box theatre
- Music recording studio
- Rehearsal spaces
- Gallery / Museum Displays
The Grand Opening will be held on March 24, 2012 from 10:00am to 4:00pm for a day of free arts, culture and recreational activities for all ages.
A History of the Centre
In 2005, the former Queen Elizabeth Park School was sold to the Town of Oakville with the intention of redeveloping the facility into a community centre.
In April 2009, Council approved the proposed renovation. The vision was to have a community centre than met recreational needs as well as space requirements of many not-for-profit arts and culture groups.
